Preparing For A Job Interview

Posted on Saturday, May 1, 2010 in Attraction

Interviewing for a job can be very difficult. Many people spend a great deal of time on their resume when they are looking for a job, but do not spend time preparing for an interview. When an individual is called for an interview they have been selected as one of a few people being seriously considered for the position. It is important to take a few extra steps to make the best impression possible during the short time that one will have some personal time with the group that is hiring.

Research the company prior to the interview. By going to the company’s website, you will be able to find out a lot of information about the company. In addition, do a search of the company to find out other information that may assist in the interview. Knowing the history of the company, it’s structure, and it’s function will help you to feel more comfortable when you are talking to the people who are interviewing you.

Dress in the manner that is appropriate for the company. If, through your search, you have learned that this is a conservative company, dress conservatively. For women, wearing a conservative suit with a bright flower will give the subliminal message to the group when they see you that you can fit in with the company. You will also be showing that you have a personality that fits as well.

Working in a home income opportunity, such as automated forex trading, may be one of the considerations that are made. As with any home income opportunity a person will want to do thorough research on any type of opportunity that will require an investment. It is important to know level of risk involved, and the return that one can expect, prior to investing.

While jewelry is a part of many people’s personality, it is important that no excess jewelry be worn to an interview. When adding jewelry to a conservative suit one will want to keep the amount of jewelry worn in keeping with the suit. Many conservative companies discourage their employees from wearing any excess jewelry. If this is an issue then the company may not be a good match for you.

Some of the people on the interview panel may have allergies or be sensitive to certain odors. If you are a smoker use breath mints and use an unscented deodorizing spray on your clothing before entering the company. Using a spray like Oust or other room deodorizer that removes smoke smell without leaving any odor will remove traces of smoke that someone who is very sensitive may pick up.

The individuals being interviewed have the skills and talents that the company is looking for. The interview determines who will best fit in with the company as a person. By preparing for the interview properly an individual can stand out from the other interviewees. Making a good first impression that indicates that you can fit the structure of the company will give you an advantage over the rest of the individuals being interviewed.

Preparing For A Job Interview
How do I prepare for a job interview through telephone?

I have a job interview at 5:00pm with Nordstroms and it will be through the telephone. I have never had an interview through a telephone. I really want this job, it would be my first job. Please help!

and if you have ever had a phone interview please tell your experience thanks.

I’ll tell you the three things I’ve heard from interviewers that really help with phone interviews:

1. NO distractions. Make sure you’re somewhere away from barking dogs, loud TVs, kids crying, etc.

2. Smile. Even though they can’t see you, the smile really comes through in your voice and makes you sound cheerful and enthusiastic.

3. Practice. Get a friend to run through some questions with you on the phone (or try the video interview below). They’ll tell you if you sound natural and professional. Prepare answers to common questions, like “Why do you want to work here?”

Good luck! Let us know how it goes!
