Clarks Sandals – Commitment to Excellence in Shoes For Almost Two Hundred Years

Posted on Wednesday, June 24, 2009 in General Fashion News

In 1825, Cyrus and James clark established a shoe company that began its long and memorable history by manufacturing sheepskin slippers, using village workers in Street, England. Today the company has expanded its operations from England to the United States, Japan and several locations in the East. Today all of its manufacturingoperations are performed in Vietnam, India and China. The commitment that the Clark brothers started in 1825 to quality manufacturing and design is still as strong today as it was when the earliest pair of sheepskin slippers was manufactured in England for Clarks sandals.

Clarks Shoes is known for such styles as the Playdeck sandal, which was actually accepted by schools in the United Kingdom as part of the school uniform. in the 1970s and 1980s. Down through the years, other styles stand out; for instance, the Desert Boot was very popular in Europe during the 1950s, as was the Wallabee, or the Clark Classic as it was also called. The company has continued to evolve with the times in which they operate and has paid special attention to new and emerging types of materials that have made manufacture of the Clarks brand superior to others. An example of this is the use of polyurethane in the soles of Clarks shoes. This is still employed today and is incredibly durable as well as very light in weight.

Clarks Shoes is not a company that focuses on high fashion, but rather on a comfortable, durable, high quality shoe that will last the consumer for many years and provide support to the feet. In addition, Clarks focuses on the entire family, and its footwear are still a popular footwear item in the United Kingdom to this day. So if you are biased to shoes that will last for a long time and that not only look great, but are incredibly comfortable, then Clarks Shoes are for you. This is a company that not only has lasted for over a century, but is still one of the top shoe manufacturers in the world, and they have done this by remaining focused on customer care, comfort, quality and staying current in manufacturing trends and materials.

Clarks shoes initially did not allow their retailers to sell Clarks footwear via the internet. Their fear was that inexperienced retailers (in terms selling online) would somehow misrepresent the Clarks name, whether by inferior marketing and/or price gouging. However, as with other manufacturers, Clarks eventually saw the light and you can now find hundreds of clarks footwear retailers on the internet. Find Clarks, Softspots shoes and other brands at various online stores…
