Choosing Your First Prom Dress

Thinking about your evening gown can never be started too early. It is one of the most important dresses you will own, just like your wedding dress. Once you have identified your bad points and those you wish to emphasise, you need to decide on a style of dress. Tight fitting dresses will always restrict your movement, and exagerate any imperfections of your figure.This is true no matter what your figure. Make sure that you can dance the night away in comfort. If you are still in doubt about what suits you,take somebody with you and go and try on lots of different style of dresses. Be careful who you choose to take with you. You need somebody who will be brutally honest. You need an honest opinion, so don’t tell them what you think you are looking for in advance.

You should decide on hairstyle and makeup, once you have committed to a dress. If you have long hair, you will have to make the decision about whether to put it on top of your head or leave it around your shoulders. An upswept hairstyle looks really good if you have a long slender neck, and good skin complexion. Loose hair may not look very good if the neckline of the dres is ornate. Think also about what your hair will do when you dance. You need a hairstlye that will survive the night long dancing. You can always help keep your hair in control with ornaments and clis/grips. If you have short hair, you can always add extensions to your hair if you want to go for the long look or add a false piece set in curls on top of you head for something totally different.

Your evening is about having having a wonderful time, so don’t get totally caught up in the look and design of your gown prom dresses. The night is about you, whatever your dance dress looks like. If you feel happy and confident, it will show and you will look good. So just get out there, enjoy yourself.
